Iðunn. Goddess associated with apples and youth.
She is the grantor of eternal youthfulness. The gods rely on her and her apples to preserve their youth.
In one story Loki tricks Iðunn and steals her away leaving the gods to start aging. They demand he bring her back which he eventually does. That story shows how important Iðunn in other words youth is for the gods. The same holds true to people throughout history. Everyone wants to preserve their youthful look grabbing at any chance whether it be a cosmetic product or procedure (or apples) to stop the inevitable. That I've illustrated by the hands beneath her reaching out grabbing at her. While there is nothing wrong with getting cosmetic surgery or "anti-wrinkle" cream they are mostly just a way to take peoples money while promising the impossible. We should rather try see the beauty that is in aging and not wish to stop it by relying on outer sources.
I've surrounded her with flowers and plants illustrating her youthfulness and beauty. It reminded me of a song by Nino Rota: "A rose will bloom
It then will fade
So does a youth.
So does the fairest maid." Shoutout to @brysond for suggesting I draw Idunn! ?? Who should I draw next? I'm also interested in drawing stories from Norse mythology but not exactly sure which one to do first. Perhaps the one with Auðumbla. If you have any suggestions let me know!! Thank you so much for your support and encouragement as always! ??
